Apr 28th 2019 | Rolling towards a looong summer
Nothing will happen in this video (except sometimes going trippily glitchy on Chrome), it's just an unnecessarily looong way to say that it's finally warm enough to take pictures outside.
Candy Box
Yes, this box of candy contains candy that is called "candy box". Confusing? Box your confusions and take the candy box out of the candy box and eat it by going stabby on each little piece. The flavors are apple, banana, cherry and orange, with starch powder on top.
Colorful Ramune
Mention ramune to a Japanese person and the first association might be the drink sold in charming little sales stalls at Japanese festivals. The name "ramune" comes from "lemonade".
It sounds quite similar, but apparently the word is too loooong for the Japanese language as it is, and as you might know there is no r/l difference in the language either.
Baby Star Round Potato
It's a bag of small cylindrical lightly salted potato snacks, which will hopefully make my two Latvian subscribers (hello Elviss and Dzesika!) very happy.
Nagai Sakeru Gummy
Sakeru Gummy is a famous candy in Japan that is enjoyed by tearing apart in strips and sharing with your friends. It has a really unique texture and feeling when you chew it.
This is the "nagai" version; "long" in Japanese. There's a great series of Japanese ads for this one.
Roll Candy Grape
Since we're on a roll of loooong things, finally here's another one. It's a very sweet and sticky roll of grape tape. To eat it... well instead of explaining I'll just hop into this time machine and let this family show you with their new "tele vision" system.
Thank you, we're back. Now technology has improved much since those days, and scientists have discovered that unwinding it with your hands is unpleasantly sticky, and the 21st century way is to grab onto it with your teeth and rolling it straight into your mouth instead.
Life in Japan
Went to see fireflies in the countryside, my first time. I hadn't realized they twinkle in synchrony. One second off, one second on; it's apparently a mating thing. Spread out in pitch darkness, they looked like a motion version of the starry sky above.
Thanks for reading/eating and I hope you found there to be enough loooong things in the box to satisfy you.
